About Us

Martin, unfortunately, passed away in 2007 and now Lorraine & Victoria run and manage the shop together. Something Special is situated in a parade of shops on a busy main road and offers free parking.

Within months of opening, it became apparent this had been much needed in the area, and with a constant flow of customers and positive reactions, Lorraine and Martin decided to extend the shop to enable an even larger selection of goods resulting in over 1500 sq. ft. of shop floor space dedicated to the ever-changing stock. 

Being independent means we can choose which suppliers to buy from and what stock to buy.  We specialise in quality, traditional cards that are often hard to come across, to cover many occasions including the more obscure events, Lorraine takes pride and has a massive passion for finding the right cards to stock, buying from 15 different companies to ensure a wide varied selection to choose from.

We are constantly sourcing new products to stock and to keep on-trend with the latest fashions.  (We have certainly seen some changes over the years in how and what people buy!)  We check all our items when they arrive in store as we want to be sure they are in perfect condition when given as a gift.

Our staff are always happy to help in choosing the right card, finding the perfect gift and also picking the correct wrapping or gift bag.  We strongly believe in personal customer service, something you cannot get by ‘adding items’ to your basket!
